Ever wondered what happens when a pond becomes a creek again? Join us for Secret Life of Creeks and discover how restoring impounded creeks helped bring the Okaloosa Darter off the endangered species list. Featuring Jeff Van Vrancken from US Fish and Wildlife at Jackson Guard, this event is perfect for nature lovers, conservationists, freshwater and fly fishermen, and anyone curious about the science behind habitat restoration. What to Expect: -The story of how Eglin’s restoration efforts revived natural creek ecosystems -How studying aquatic macroinvertebrates (tiny critters like insect larvae and snails) helps monitor water quality -A hands-on look at the creek’s biodiversity and what it tells us about a healthy environment
